The outlets' coverage shouldn't be aggregated for purposes of this analysis. The lede should be how each of the 3 outlets did or did not treat the two stories similarly.

Cable news mentioned the word "classified" an average of 357 times per day in the 2 weeks after the Mar-a-Lago raid. It has mentioned it an average of 478 times per day since Biden's scandal broke, with one channel leading the way. fivethirtyeight.com/features/is-it

A good gutcheck on media coverage. My Spidey-senses were tingling when the first story appeared and were heightened when Republicans seemed to have talking points at the ready. Turns out a pro-fossil fuel group is stoking this along with one or two (unwitting??) enviro groups.

News reporters are swallowing the story that wind power may be responsible for whale deaths this winter...hook, line and sinker. I tried to figure out where that big fish story is coming from. wnyc.org/story/why-wind

Notary Public? Does this mean that the Supreme Court can't be certain that the people who work for them are who they claim to be? "You, Joan Smith, a SCOTUS employee of 20 years, deny leaking this. That's all well and good, but are you really Joan Smith? Fetch the Notary!"

I expressed my gratitude for the Ukrainians' fight for freedom, but Dmytro, the rep from Kind Deeds, made it clear they had little choice. Again, this is true of all communities wracked by war, and an important lesson as we prepare to commemorate America's 250th in a few years.

...weaponry of today, but we are still discovering yet more evidence of the stark inhumanity of that war. Such as this likely Hessian mass grave unearthed last year (btw I got to see the remains in situ re at the dig - it was sobering to say the least).

This is lazy reporting. Watch the video. Rogers looks like he wanted to get in Gaetz’s face to yell at him, but there was no “charge.” Hudson was the one who overreacted here.

As tensions boiled over on the House floor during the speaker votes, Republican Mike Rogers of Alabama started to charge toward Matt Gaetz before Richard Hudson physically pulled him back. Full coverage: apnews.com/article/politi

“As to those who have had no personal experience of fascism… the term democracy has very little real meaning. They are as unaware of the basic constitutional liberties they enjoy as they are unaware of the composition of the air they breathe.” – Arthur Koestler
“Optimism comes less easily today, not because democracy is less vigorous, but because democracy's enemies have refined their instruments of repression.” – Ronald Reagan

Okay, the first 12 rounds have been easy, quickly moving up from 14th to 5th in the standings for Speaker ballots taken. The gaps are now bigger. Need 10 more ballots to get to #4 in all-time rankings. It's a long slog, but I know we can do it if we pull together!

“As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master. This expresses my idea of democracy. Whatever differs from this, to the extent of the difference, is not democracy.” – Abraham Lincoln

Personal ambition topples oligarchies because every person thinks he has the right to lead, but “[i]n a democracy, someone who fails to get elected to office can always console himself with the thought that there was something not quite fair about it.” – Thucydides

“There never was a Democracy yet, that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to say that Democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious or less avaricious than Aristocracy or Monarchy. Those passions are the same… under all forms of government.” – John Adams

“The fabric of democracy is always fragile everywhere because it depends on the will of citizens to protect it, and when they become scared, when it becomes dangerous for them to defend it, it can go very quickly.” – Margaret Atwood

Free advice for Dem House members. Suppress the urge for snark (popcorn pics, etc.). The Twitterverse has already got you covered. Play up being the adults in the room; wanting to get to work on behalf of the American people. Small gesture, but will serve you well in long run.

Just a reminder as this drags on, the one-term Speakership die was cast at the second ballot. 13 individuals have needed multiple rounds to be elected Speaker. Only one of them ever served an additional term in that role (which also went to multiple ballots).

As it appears GOP dissidents' demands are mainly about power and creating instability, re-upping this from last month on what GOP voters think it means to be a "good Republican."
