I cannot for the life of me understand why, as long as we are responsibly waiting for accurate counts, why aren't actually responsibly waiting for an accurate count.

  5. Democrats only need to flip 4 of 100 seats to take control of Iowa's state House in 2020. Doing so won't just be important for protecting abortion rights but also to stop Republicans from subverting Iowa's nonpartisan redistricting process so they can gerrymander

  6. Virginia state Senate Democrats have passed a bill to repeal the GOP’s photo voter ID law & allow non-photo forms of ID such as a utility bill

The real threat to democracy is not one incompetent caucus, it’s the systematic denial of voting rights, courting of foreign interference, monetization of our elections, and multi decade effort to preserve minority Republican rule over a broad majority of Americans.

  9. Backers are pushing top-two as "open primaries," but instead of simply letting anyone vote in whatever party primary they want, top-two creates a huge coordination problem for parties/candidates. Closed primary states should switch to real open primaries or ranked-choice instead

  10. Not good: A Nevada GOP state senator has filed a proposed ballot initiative that would create a "top-two" electoral system CA & WA use this system, & it's an all-around terrible election reform compared to alternatives. Here's why:

It's worth also noting that the RNC has been ACTUALLY LITERALLY rigging the process in multiple states so that nobody challenges Trump Senior.

I wrote up all the reasons why the Iowa caucus is a ridiculous affront to democracy... even when they do manage to count the votes.

Fun thing to think about is that the Iowa caucus results have never been consistent and everyone just let them keep doing it anyway.

BREAKING: The Nevada State Democratic Party says that it can "confidently say" what happened in Iowa will not happen in Nevada. They say that they will not be employing the same app or vendor used in the Iowa caucus and have backups/redundancies built in.

On a call with campaigns, IDP Chair Troy Price said more than 50% of the caucus results will be released at 4pm today. No timetable on the rest as they continue to collect data. At least one campaign on the call was pushing back about releasing only part of the data.
