Building a diverse team and enabling them to be successful inside an overall-less-diverse organization has a lot in common with activism. And I think it's subject to the same sort of burnout that you see in the activism community.
You are describing intellectual diversity. A summation of a person's lived experiences. Everything they have ever learned. True diversity is deeper than shallow groupings of race, sexuality, and spirituality.

And there is overwhelming evidence that the distribution of summations of life experiences in tech are dramatically skewed toward summations of life experiences common to white, cis males. Seeking out folks who are likely to have different life experiences is intensely important.
