A 26 year old man died on the spot after he was stabbed with an okapi knife at a beer garden in Mabutweni, Byo on 1/2/20 at about 2000hrs. The victim tried to break an altercation between the accused & another man but the accused turned on him and stabbed him 3 times before

The cumulative number of people who have been arrested in the ongoing operation against illegal mining activities and machete gangs has risen to 2323. This follows the arrest of 186 people at Premier, Odzi today. The area had been infested by illegal miners and other criminals.

On 24/01/20 at about 1800 hours, 3 other trucks with smuggled goods worth ZAR 76 432.79 were intercepted and duty amounting to ZWL31 032.88 was paid. On 22/01/19, 4 trucks were also intercepted with smuggled goods worth ZAR 34 192,86 and duty amounting to ZWL 11 455,42 was paid.

The ZRP is warning the public against evading duty when entering the country. On 25/01/20 at about 1800 hours Police in Beitbridge intercepted 4 trucks with smuggled worth ZAR131 719,07 and duty amounting to ZWL39 017,86 was paid.

In a related incident, another South Africa-Chirundu bound bus driver and 11 passengers were arrested at Chikangwe bus Terminus, Karoi whilst offloading undeclared goods from South Africa. Meanwhile, all the undeclared goods were seized by ZIMRA. #notosmuggling @Zimra_11

The driver of a Zambia- Harare bound bus and 14 passengers were arrested for smuggling at a roadblock along Harare-Chirundu road on 26/01/20. They failed to produce declaration documents for their goods.

A 17 year old boy died of injuries he sustained during an attack by a mob who accused him of theft. The incident occurred on 26/1/20 at about 0200hrs at Old Tafara, Harare. Suspects should be handed over to the police to allow the law to take course. #notomobjustice

On 25/1/20 along Boston Road, Cowdry Park, Byo, a speeding motorist knocked down 3 pedestrians who were crossing the road. One of the victims died on the spot. In Hre a pedestrian was hit by a motorist when he suddenly went into the road in front of a stationery truck.

3 men from Killarney, Bulawayo have been arrested for cutting ZESA overhead cables with a bolt cutter. They left the cables hanging from the poles & investigations led to identification of the culprits. The public is urged to quickly report vandalism to key infrastructure.

It is illegal to transport explosives in public service vehicles.

A male adult, 45 was arrested at ZRP Sadza for illegal possession of explosives. He left his bag in a public service vehicle & the bag was handed over to the police. The explosives were discovered on handing over the bag to the accused.

On 24/1/20, 4 men were arrested for illegal gold panning along Mutare River, Penhalonga. A 50kg bag of gold ore was recovered. On 25/1/20 ZRP Matobo arrested 15 people for illegal gold panning, 01 for possessing dagga in the ongoing operation against illegal mining activities.

The accused person and another who is still at large would steal cash, groceries, electrical appliances and clothing. #crimedoesnotpay

A serial thief, Elton Zibusiso (26) has been arrested in Byo on 11 counts of unlawful entry and theft, 11 counts of theft and 2 counts of theft from motor vehicle. The offences were committed in Victoria falls where business premises were being targeted.

25 illegal miners armed with iron bars, shovels, picks and machetes attempted to invade a mine in Makonde, Chinhoyi on 26/1/20. Police moved in to disperse them using teargas and firing some warning shots. #notoillegalmining
