Turning DC USA into a Union Market? That’s some hardcore, brutal gentrification. Losing places to shop for affordable clothes, appliances, home wares in exchange for overpriced duck meat hot dogs with truffle oil? No thanks.

Wrong. DC USA was the gentrification. And half of it is empty. Turning into a food hall brings jobs, enjoyment, and nourishment to the entire community.

I love having a Target within walking distance. A lot of my friends in other neighborhoods wish they had that. And the Panera has been closed since 2017.
-
I like that target also because it’s literally walks from the metro station there, though the last time I was there was before the pandemic.

Well Room 11 is gone. I live in Columbia Heights and I agree is more than the Target. I like the conveniences but dislike how chains seems to be given preference while local small businesses must die. It is not a nice “gentrification” we still have a lot of gun violence

I’ve been saying #2 (to myself, every time I think of DC USA) for years! How do we make that happen?!
@ANC1A@BrianneKNadeau So. Much. Untapped. Potential.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

As a Columbia Heights resident who lives on the street where the church is the picture is, I completely agree with you. Columbia heights is wonderful and diverse. There's so much more to this neighborhood than DC USA!

Just popping in to say that
@TynanCoffeeTea (right off the metro on Irving) is my favorite latte in DC, and a Columbia Heights staple. Gotta agree with you, CoHi is more than DC USA. There are local gems everywhere if you're willing to see them. -
Seconding my love for
@TynanCoffeeTea! They have a decent amount of competition in the area but are fantastic and run flawlessly.

There was much anticipation on the new development. Unfortunately DCUSA is ugly&the traffic is horrible, gets a bad rap&It’s synonymous with Columbia Heights. Brightwood is anticipating a huge new development&many say they hope it’s not a Columbia Heights 2as a point of reference
