This obviously leaves a lot to unpack, as ‘good’ and ‘bad’ are shorthand for more nuanced subjective perspectives. But: as a general rule for myself, a value is bad if it causes unnecessary suffering for others.
By the same logic, what is the probability that you are not the victim of bullshit yourself? What gives you confidence that you see the world more clearly?

This is a great question. I have a very specific heuristic for this: I try to only argue with people who can articulate my position to me to my own satisfaction, and I always make sure I can articulate their position to their satisfaction. This requires good faith on both parts.

What I find with so many of the people affiliated with this 'dark enlightenment' or whatever is that their views are really pretty easy to restate in a way that they will agree with. I've yet to hear any of them restate any criticism with the same charity.
