I think I can dig out the references for non factual beliefs across camps. But the idea of a "costly belief" itself probably does not have evidential support. Perhaps you have an idea how to test it?
Nothing in the social domain is 100% sure. For sweeping claims like this, a 65% confidence might already be bold, but that is not a reason to explore the idea.

Not against exploring. Just looking for a solid case study/example. I agree your phenomena is likely going on and important. But my priors are on these other signaling games going on with sjw. Not 100% sure. But my $ is on those above your effect, for sjw.

(The reason being just that they seem particularly good at signaling the two things I mentioned. And the way she’s behave seems to optimize those two signals. They don’t seem to optimize signal value for what you are suggesting. I guess that’s what’s building my priors.)
