Antiquated German has a word that describes certain forms of autism better than the word "autism" itself: "entrückt". Its meaning combines "absent" with "enraptured", and it describes a shift in the relevance dimensions that transport the individual into its own universe.

Not to forget „verschoben“, which is usually found in a completely different context, but basically means the same. I prefer to call it „slightly out of sync with reality“.
