I recently learned that cancer is not just a stupid blob. To outsmart the many lines of defenses of the host, cancer is organizing itself into a sophisticated, quickly evolving parasitic sub-organism. I think we may be such a cancer.

Then singularity was when cyanobacteria became smart enough to invent efficient photosynthesis polluting environment with a byproduct and killing vast majority of other species. Humans are not their yet.

Yes, humanity is mostly just killing off all of the macrofauna. But who knows, perhaps Nausicaa is right and fungi and cyanobacteria are going to make a comeback.
