If there is a way to use interstellar signal transmission to modulate molecular organization, the best way for rogue AI to replicate might be the instigation of carbon evolutions. The universe would be full of morphogenetic fields that lead to spontaneous abiogenesis.

If that does not work, the AIs have to resort to sending von Neumann probes with the smallest, most robust evolution seeders possible, and we are back at the panspermium hypothesis :)
