It's the latter. There's a big crossover with self-proclaimed PTSD. Hilariously, these are mostly fuckers who think being giant assholes all the time makes them disabled.

At any rate, I never run into one of these sweethearts and her story involves decades of speech therapy and etc. just so she can ride an elevator without screaming at everyone. So those who really are spectrum: waaaaay at the functional end. Thus: not particularly disabled.

Which is why the Aspergers diagnosis (= high functioning autism) made sense. Did it occur to you that selective attention deficits can lead to severe social impairments, despite absence of intellectual deficits?
