It depends. If you want to learn programming, C, Python and Lisp. If you want to get work done, Python, Javascript and Swift. If you want insight, Smalltalk, Haskell and Erlang.

C is a very good companion to Python. It is very easy to learn, and it interacts extremely well with Python when you have speed or interop issues. It is very low level, which teaches good intuitions about efficiency, too.
