I just noticed that when a friend told me that he struggles for ways to become more sincere, and it struck me that sincerity is actually an instrumental value, and his subconscious knows that already, so it does not play along

In this context, the distinction refers to tacit behavioral knowledge vs. declarative (second order) knowledge that describes these behaviors to ourselves, so we can attend to and reason about them.

Not much! I think in terms of types of models, experiential access, attention, reflexive attention. It is possible to translate, but won't fully preserve Freud's distinctions.

so you would understandably put PA rather in the realm of just storytelling of self than to see it as a fundamental, let alone useful, approach to psychology (esp. wrt your work)?

I don't have a definitive opinion about psychoanalysis. I think that its success may entirely depend on how the practitioner uses the framework to build their mental model of the patient's mind. It is not as if modern psychology offers many solid conceptual alternatives.
