If thinkers hold on to fixed assumptions, they become subroutines in the virtual hivemind that comprehends the universe. Their followers are sub-subroutines. Most thinkers are doomed to explore infertile ground, due to an unquestioned decision made generations ago.
I just noticed that when a friend told me that he struggles for ways to become more sincere, and it struck me that sincerity is actually an instrumental value, and his subconscious knows that already, so it does not play along
