People make it too much about Trump. What gets neglected is that Cambridge Analytica cannot be the only ones having harvested these data. It is obviously what every large marketing team, voting campaign, hedge fund, PR company with a modicum of competence must have tried too.

I don't think that history is well characterized as the struggle of large groups of good people against large groups of bad people. The intentions and personal qualities of leaders are often insignificant too. (Obama promised "change" and could not deliver, which killed all hope)
