Alpha Go is not better but worse when we put a human in the loop, and at some point, the same may be true for corporate AI, governance AI, military AI, which will outperform human leaders and advisors. We will give a lot of power to AI, and there may be no way to get it back.

This is true, but only if your objective function is very narrowly defined. If you include human wellbeing, social functioning etc. as part of the systems (complex) objectives, i suspect "human in the loop" is "better" in many cases.

Why should AI not be better at serving any human objective function, including discovering that function, than humans? Eventually every human in the loop will make things worse, which means more people have to suffer and die than would otherwise.

Sure, agree. We already have such systems: Earth's eco-system - its smarter than us & not much micro-management required. But the relationship/interaction we have with this is highly dynamic and agency is shared, not "handed over" as the AI scenarios seem to suggest.

Earth's eco system had zero defense against us. We are basically the equivalent of the meteor that killed the dinosaurs. The biosphere will probably have to reboot from small vertebrates again when we are done with it.

very sad prospect indeed. Would not call this a battle (Human VS Earth) but a suicide

Of course. Living as long as we can, as comfortably as we can and with as many children as we want ultimately means that we commit suicide. And I am not suggesting that we don't commit suicide; this is just an observation.

It is all very peculiar indeed. One a more "uplifting" note, if we make peace with our own mortality none of this really matters. have a wonderful day :)
