Creativity is the discovery of models in the absence of a gradient.
I think that you can measure distance as soon as you treat each difference relation as a quantifiable scalar, and you can map all dimensions of difference on a single one (usually by ignoring most of them). But if you increase that vector, you won't always find a valid object!

Yes. Though I would say that you will always find an object by extrapolating from the known, but if the jump was too far you might not yet have developed the capabilities to fully recognize its validity. Like trying to build a bridge from the middle-out.
