The relation to integrity and trust seems to be that I can only trust people that are willing and able to act in my interest, and integrity is a prerequisite for consistent action on what one wants. Conformity may indicate willingness but also lack of integrity.

Hm right, without goal alignment consistency is not sufficient for trust. But a lot of trust seems to come from applying the self-model that maintaining a lie requires lots of thinking, to other people; an intuitive complexity bound.
