How long do you foresee to be alive? (We just want to know when Gary Marcus should sell his stocks in symbolic AI companies.)

Were I Ray, my answer would be never, for you folks are going to make the breakthroughs that will let me upload my brain, right? By I am not Ray, so let’s say 30-40 years. I have a lot I want to live and love and do before then, so I am in no hurry.

Btw, don't worry, uploading is super easy; we just need to make a machine that thinks it is you.

How do you think that you are now the same person as the drastically different set of behavior programs that was on the street or in the bathroom or in the restaurant a few hours ago? Or a few years ago? Just your sense of identity over all you can remember!

Your sense of identity does not spring from your recognition of your own neurons. Neurons manifest only as occasional signals to other neurons. No neuron knows itself or any other neuron. Identity is an attribute of your memories.
