Identity over time is again a very different kind of representation. An object with divergent aspects can be unified by combining its divergent instances with an explicit identity relation, which when ordered becomes a world line, and when anchored to temporal events, a biography

To your original point: to get a biography you need a relation that represents the temporal dimension and at least one other relation type that represents a changing feature, so 2D should be technically enough. And yes, every bit of information needs something to compare it to.

I add that we need an external perspective to observe the other perspectives. So to see something in 2D, we need a 3D system. But I don't always pay attention to that observer dimension. So I'm not as consistent as I could be there.

Heh. Yeah, I was hoping you were enjoying yourself. :-)

It seems cannot really learn any of these things (the mathematical theory of representation), I have to derive them myself, so spelling them out is useful.
