The surprising fact that science works at all is a strong indication that our universe is mechanical.

What does “mechanical” mean? Isn’t it defined in terms of “laws of the universe”?

According to my current best understanding it means that it can be implemented on a Turing machine.

That would imply minds can also be implemented on a TM, right?

Wouldn’t that contradict the Penrose–Lucas argument?

Penrose tries to grasp for a metacomputational operator, but that is hopeless because our reasoning is based on a computational algebra. Gödel does not offer a way out, as Penrose hopes. Lucas is just confused.
