Quantum computers are to computing what bitcoin is to currency. They attract intense fascination but probably won't scale to work in practice. (Ironically, working quantum computers would likely destroy cryptocurrencies.)

It's something I see from time to time: claims that the extra processing power offered by QC's would pave the way for AGI, as if that were the issue obstructing AGI research. It's almost like saying a quantum computer would solve the Halting problem. Misses the point altogether.

Much of current machine learning is fancy simulated annealing though, and if you could somehow entangle all your weights so they settle on an optimum without painstaking sequential series of adjustments...
