The goal of studying ideologies is not to sort them into good and evil ones and to pick the best one. The goal is not to move left or right, but up and out. As long as we are triggered by ideology, we know we still carry competing infections.
I think that understanding and changing things requires full agency over one's own beliefs, values and decisions. But it is not clear if a society based on full enlightenment of all subjects can be achieved and works in practice. I'd like to see some simulations.

"Full agency" is not technically possible unless one erases all prior biases, which would leave one with no basis for selecting new aims/values; All we have to work with is the products of history/evolution, which will determine what we consider improvements. Simulations, more?
