In the long run, the most successful ideologies are going to be those that are best aligned with evolution. Unfortunately, evolution tends to be very unpleasant for its participants. At some point, we may have to choose between favoring ethics or life.

I agree with this observation and it troubles me. The ideologies most aligned to evolution are the most libertarian, right wing ideologies. Or do you see any alignment for 'progressive' ideologies?

Perhaps the ultimate political choice for humans is libertarian fascism or submission to a superior synthetic sentience? Both carry risk of extinction. Could this explain the Fermi paradox?

There are several more likely ones: short half life of civilization, Dark Forest hypothesis, and extreme improbability of spontaneous formation of adaptive self replicators.
