A God is not a supernatural entity but the identification of a social superorganism from the perspective of the individual, which takes primacy over individual interests. The soul is the relation that binds the individual to the projected superorganism.
Existence is pointless, of course. We are just a kind of yeast. But once you operate in a framework of values and preferences, we can discuss if your religious practice is helpful or beside the point.

Ah, see I follow the physics of reality, which shows that there is a point to reality, and that is increasing complexity. This means more diverse individual things that come together to form larger things that have more unpredictable/creative functions - i.e., entropy/evolution.

Physics does not know a difference between is and ought. Evolution is a process that can create order from negentropy. In a universe where information is conserved, entropy is the flip side of order, and will strangle all life.
