A God is not a supernatural entity but the identification of a social superorganism from the perspective of the individual, which takes primacy over individual interests. The soul is the relation that binds the individual to the projected superorganism.
Btw it is obviously pointless to pray to the law of physics. The universe is just a computer, it cannot love you. But the superorganism can give meaning to your life, and it can love you for your service.

To me, it's all semantics. Praying is something we do internally, as a way to talk to ourselves. We can call that part of ourselves that is closest to life as a whole (our DNA, and connection to nature) anything we want. The words aren't important, really.

That would be pointless.
