Our culture shift reflected in the two excellent Blade Runner movies is fascinating! In the first, all forces of agency were material, but the primary mode of interaction between men and women was romance. In the new one, all forces are ideological, and romance does not exist.

I am grateful to the talented culture shaper and still relevant Anita Sarkeesian to add to the sense of despair by reliably pointing out how even attempting to simulate intragender romance via mutual submission between a replicant and a holographic simulacrum is deeply immoral.

Of course, neither Blade Runner movie is a vision of the future. Both are projections of their cultural present, onto a surface that manages to be surreal enough to filter out some dimensions of our current essence.
