The Game of Go has been explored for 2500 years and resulted in a body of theories that Go masters study in Go schools. Alpha Go discovered that human Go understanding was caught in a local optimum, and broke out of it. The game of modern physics started only 130 years ago...

Mechanism is now computationalism. We can show that computation is necessary and sufficient for producing all observables. "Physical reality" is a thing that nobody has ever seen, we cannot treat it as if we could be acquainted with it.

'We can show that computation is necessary and sufficient for producing all observables.' Go ahead and Stockholm will be glad to offer you a Prize :) Seriously now I hope you understand this is a statement of omniscience refuted by Fitch's paradox. http://www.digitalcosmology.com/Blog/2011/08/28/is-fitchs-paradox-of-knowability-just-a-scholastic-argument/ …

The idea that all patterns the universe can throw at an observer can be generated by a computational system (sufficient) and if the patterns allow the implementation of computers it must at least be a computer (necessary) has been obvious for 80 years and won't get anyone a price

From a computationalist perspective, the disagreement between foundational physicists comes down to what computational class the universe inhabits, i.e. if transition functions are deterministic/probabilistic, discrete/continuous, causal/acausal, over finitely bounded elements
