If someone mentions "quantum fields" in any context related to mind and consciousness, they are either terminally confused or lying.

But it seems to be a respectable study and even if some people use this terminology bad it is plausible that neurons can harness quantum physics to perfom better

It is possible but entirely unrelated to free will and consciousness. Quantum physics is a computational theory, and free will is not a problem of processing speed.
