Some of it forms maps, some prototype collections, some algorithms. Columns can apparently fuse etc. The uniformity could be the metalearning structure?

I suspect if you replaced part of a metalearning brain with a different computational substrate the mind might be able to figure out how to wrest useful computation from that one instead...
