Nicely said. Life is defined by complex relationships. But might it be, the same is true for "dead" (inanimate) matter?

I think of the difference as manifested and unmanifested consciousness. It is not binary, but a matter of degree.

You keep using that c word, but are you sure about what it means, or is it just a placeholder for "sacred magic"?

Yes. I used the consciousness word because there is nothing better. It is an inadequate and confusing word I agree.

But how can you use a word if you don't know what it means in that context? Are you not confusing yourself this way?

It is impossible to speak in language if you have to ve clear wgat every word means precisely. Do you really know what "time" is?

By the way, I used the consciousness word only once in this discussion. As I want to highlight the fact that it is not binary, but graded.

Specifically, all humans are not equal in consciousness. Some go through their lives like robots in dynamic homeostasis :) some are aware.

My point is that this awareness of one's self in space and time (and beyond it) is present in all forms of life & not just humans.

How do you know that? How could you test that hypothesis?
