Why do people think the trolley problem is critical for self-driving cars? The trolley problem wasn't critical even for trolleys.
I think @AndrewYNg is right. Engineers told me that it is of little practical concern. A mirage of underemployed philosophers?

this has nothing to do with engineering. It is a psychological barrier to adoption of a new life saving tech.
