I think that a relatively vague term as 'creativity' can only do so much work. I don't think that we can learn very much if we try to classify search algorithms over complex domains as 'creative' or 'uncreative'.

I have a question. When explaining simulation and simulacrum, you mention a 3D computer game as a simulation example and a movie as a simulacrum example. My question is: would a 3D computer generated movie qualify as a simulation or simulacrum? Or somewhere in between?

The main question is to which degree a model (such as a 3D movie) allows intervention, i.e. different trajectories, and how well the causal structure of this model matches the domain. Some 3D movies can simulate different camera perspectives, but not different story developments.

Exciting. My thread on the topic may be interesting, since this is exactly what we research @SentiencInst:

I'm glad to see leading voices in AI like @sama, @ylecun, and @ilyasut ponder the question of artificial consciousness. We research this @SentienceInst because it's one of the most important questions for the long-term future. I'd like to introduce the topic in a brief thread 1/n

Continually amazing! Your understanding of art is more incisive than that of most people in the art world. I would just add that although AI art is merely pastiche, so much of what we pass off as human art is also that.
