To whom are they beholden? Is this a strategy in hopes of curtailing the spread of misinformation while catering to what’s considered the authority (legitimated thru a public discourse eye) on the matter, even when evidence evaporates such authority claim?

I suspect that this is an administrative decision that does not have recourse and intelligent arbitration built into it.

After great lengths, Silicon Valley was take over the public-health establishment and wear its skin. (This is an improvement.) They're annoyed that people are still attacking the skin.
