For me it’s very difficult to tell if somebody actually believes in what they say or if they are trying to convince me of something while knowing it’s bs. I prefer they believe what they say bc even if it is bs the person is still speaking the truth. @Plinz
I think that many people experience themselves not as autonomous individuals, but as part of a hive, and they are trying to think and feel with the hive, even if it means sacrificing some local rationality. To influence the direction of the hive, you are required to submit.

It's obviously beneficial for the individual to be part of a powerful hive, if the hive acts as a network of trust that dispenses resources and influence among its members. I suspect that most people are born with an intuitive understanding of that fact.

You understand that fact. Yet you choose personal integrity. iow.. don’t sacrifice others if you’re not willing to sacrifice yourself in the same matter as well. That’s hypocritical in my POV
