Models are created by our mind, and mind is the (limited) medium, through which consciousness sees reality. The further our minds evolve and get rid of its limitations, the further our models evolve. Telepathy is not yet understood by rational mind.

If brain complexity is a "resonator" for mind, and thus mind is something detectable (for now) in ourselves only, due to lack of other sufficiently complex lab setups - then we could picture telepathy as precisely same-tuned radios. Rare, but possible ;-) Can well be subluminal.

disagree on the subluminal part

We would also have to explain why we have so many finely controlled facial muscles and a far developed ability to “read” non-verbal clues in other people.

Doesn’t seem like any of the evidence I’ve seen for telepathy (at least human to human) provides any strong reason to believe its not subluminal. Also, agree that subluminal telepathy fits without major envision of physical models, whereas FTL obv does not.
