'Let the right one in' is a vampire movie that is so well done that it transcends genre. Even people who have no interests in vampire movies normally would still find it great.

Absolutely, I like all good movies but there are genres I like more ( sci fi) and genres that I tend to stay away from generally ( spaghetti western, mobs and gangsters theme , vampires

The Godfather series was actually one of the films I had in mind when I made that comment. I am also really in love with Raging Bull, never thought I would like a movie about a boxer. I've not seen The Great Silence and will check it out, thanks for the rec !
