Did you try pygame? The docs are not that good but it's quite popular and in my experience reliable

Yes, I just jumped through the hurdles of making it run on my son's mac. Does not seem to do multiple windows though.

Ah. Just saw the second tweet about platform independence. So the truth is: there is no platform native then. Best bet are Qt and Electron. Good luck.
