US hospital administrations preventing nurses from using PPE (and even firing them if they do) strikes me as a unique phenomenon. I would like to understand why this happens in the US. What mindset/incentive structure causes this?https://www.propublica.org/article/a-nurses-hospital-wouldnt-let-her-wear-an-n95-mask-she-hasnt-been-back-to-work-in-weeks …

killing the maximum of people before it hurts the business is literally the job of a hospital administrator.

That does not sound convincing to me. I believe that this strategy ultimately also hurts the bottom line of the hospital, especially when staff shortages are caused by nurses getting sick or leaving.
