I’ve seen several people now refer to population density as an explanation for a higher IFR in NYC vs other places. I cannot see how that makes sense; density would affect rate of spread, not fatality rates?

Probably more strain on medical resources, fewer tests of mild cases, less social distancing and higher probability of the virus getting into nursing homes. Also large cluster of idiot journalists in Brooklyn telling everyone that they don’t need masks. All indirectly related.
