"It's not that they are wrong, from their own perspective." Democratically elected governments (in contrast to individuals or cooperations) must *not* have "their own perspective". Their perspective must be the perspective of the people who elected them.

She doesn't want to stay in power, though. She wanted to retire before the last election, but there were no other suitable candidates from her party (which is kind of her own fault). She will definitely not run in the next one.
