I think that it is doing a rather good job in providing support to its members, and that is also in no small part due to some of its female leadership figures, like Julia Galef and Anna Salamon.

Rationalists are very similar to Mensa. They both might have been designed to collect "smart" kindred spirits into a community of practice, but in reality it selects for the kind of people who want to be *known* and *valued* as smart, which selects for certain problems.
