Joscha, the wonders of vaccines are truly wonders. But let us not get ahead of ourselves since we don't have vaccines for many/most viruses. Viruses are alive and well. And who knows with Smallpox since no one even bothers to check for it.
Even to this day the WHO speaks to "what to do if you get small pox" .... even if it is highly unlikely. So, if gone like gone from our History, then no need to debate the impossible. Yet they still talk about it popping up again. Even if they stopped years back.
