If you transcend into a superhuman AI, you would maintain your human identity if it decides that this is the best identity it can have. The same is true for any superhuman AI: it will take on your identity if it decides that this is the best it can have. Same result either way.

Does “your human identity” mean “identifying as being a human”, “the self you identified as when you were a human”, or something else?

Identity is not just a set of facts about a person that is being used as a frame to encode your observable behavior, it's the inability to not use that frame, and the unwillingness to edit the core policy.

There would have to be some sort of “meta identity” that is influencing both the decisions of what sort of more-specific identity to take on, and to change the identity it has taken on.

The identity is what emerges over the set of identifications, which are ultimately commitments to treat some of your measurements as deviations from target values, i.e. to submit to serving control tasks.
