The basic idea of religion is that the organization of human beings into tribes or into economic machines is inferior to forming civilizations that are organized into sentient agency. This is the idea that we celebrate today.

I guess that depends on how we gloss the word 'intelligent.' If one means 'an explanation intelligible to the audience,' I agree. If we mean 'rational,' then I do not. Religion does not test its beliefs by science or rigor--it asserts its truths as divine mysteries. Happy Easter!

Unfortunately true, although I question the word ‘intelligent’ in that sentence, I would perhaps favour ‘controlling OS’. However, virtually all religions come with some notion of metaphysics and/or ethics, and that is something for intelligent people to consider and syncretise.
