The true purpose of school is the breaking of the spirit and the mutilation of the souls of our young, so they become fit for survival under conditions of domestication.

Οn the other hand it shows us that there are many weird creatures outside of our small family clusters and this can cultivate a sense of social cohesion/communion. How else can we learn to live together as people and community if education/socialisation is atomised?

There must be less brutal ways of our children getting to know, study and selectively befriend their fellow human beings than daily unvoluntary co-imprisonment in a poor daycare facility?

Nah. School is a clusterfuck that was born out of mostly good intentions, quickly turned crappy thanks to misaligned incentives, and is still around because it fulfils various useful-ish functions like sorting ppl into legible categories & keeping kids out of their parents' hair.

I think it was introduced by Catholic orders, to propagate the divine mind virus. Later, rationalist and modernist societies intensified the (often poorly implemented) training of rationalist skills, but kept up the indoctrination. Today’s curriculum still reflects culture wars.

True. To get all EDUCATED brains connected in a predictable way, perhaps to avoid ORIGINAL thinking's attempt to change the adapted time tested behaviors of society?!

Of course. After their mutilation, people can only connect via hearts and minds, but not in their individual spirits. The only available shared spirits are functionally normed by their cultural milieus.

Nah that's just a side benefit, the true purpose is to gulp up tax funds on the promise of free babysitting.

People with ideals about kids, particularly if they've none of their own, often have a wildly unrealistic picture of just how annoying it is to raise them in the isolated family structures of modern America. Schools are AWFUL, but most parents will BEG for them.
