Utilitarian vs. egoistic would be one (of many) axis. Having systems that select for clowns is certainly improvable.

Here's the main problem, this is naive oversimplification, in the vast majority of cases good and bad don't apply directly to people, but to their actions. It's not about "having more good people", it's about inciting good actions, essentially turning everyone good over time.

Thinking of oneself (and others) in terms of good or bad creates huge problems, such as not being able to recognise an action one has taken as bad because one sees oneself as good. People will reframe things & delude themselves to not feel bad. Try building on that.
