While I may disagree with Taleb on many things, I don't doubt his intelligence, his serious acknowledgement of his own mortality, and his imperviousness to being called names by adolescents that feel offended by the existence of his ideas.

so what you disagree w/ Taleb about? ;-)

With his intentions. If he had self awareness, he would be more fun to watch, like a slightly civilized John McAffee. He still has to enact his own instagram story, which makes me cringe, since he has the capacity for true brilliance.

interesting. I was guessing something like "he should watch his temper 'cos he drives away people who are actually on his side (Jordan Peterson!)" or so... But that's probably just my psychological projection :-)

No, unlike Peterson, he does not want to be the head of a spiritual movement. He wants to be admired for his passionate temper. He thrives on the agitation of his detractors. He is obsessed with who has the fattest tails.

Replying to @Plinz @ACryptberg and
I am not judging! It's an aesthetic, I think I can see what he's going for, but there is still so much wasted potential. Oh, and I don't trust all of his highly original scientific contributions, but that is really a minor quibble when measuring disagreements with another person.

Being relevant is largely overrated, has mostly just marginal benefits and is almost impossible to pull off with full integrity. Some of the best people are relevant, but aiming directly for relevance is always a sign of bad character.
