When innocent minds don't have an immune system, they get infected by the first pervasive mind virus that comes along. In practice, most epistemological immune systems are not part of the mature, rational self-defense of the mind, but of the virus that is currently possessing it.

Which is why its reckless by governments not to mentally prepare their citizens. Reality will hit them unprepared and shock is not a desireable state to make fundamental decisions.

But what if most of the citizens are ill-prepared to make fundamental decisions?

The way out would be education. Ideally sharing of knowledge - exponentially. But can't work as 'push' - and obviously the majority is not willing to 'pull'. In an optimistic scenario a crisis like this could result in more people thinking, questioning, being curious.

You have all reasons to be sarcastic. Maybe we/them became to complacent and take it for granted. Which it isn't. However society is squeezed to the max, no capacity left to question things and debate. Sometimes I feel regulators impose this pressure by purpose.

I think that there was never as much question and debate as there is today! The question is how we can make it more productive.
