When innocent minds don't have an immune system, they get infected by the first pervasive mind virus that comes along. In practice, most epistemological immune systems are not part of the mature, rational self-defense of the mind, but of the virus that is currently possessing it.

Which is why its reckless by governments not to mentally prepare their citizens. Reality will hit them unprepared and shock is not a desireable state to make fundamental decisions.

But what if most of the citizens are ill-prepared to make fundamental decisions?

As Cecilia Heyes puts it, both the grist and the mills are products of cultural evolution.

And yet there is a difference between a software that lies to its host and one that actualizes it

and this is exactly why we engage in philosophy; to examine our own beliefs and biases, as well as those of others, and the potential mind viruses. we awake from the virus's spell, and gain the option to tune it out, or to dance along

that's very optimistic; I have met a few philosophers that I deeply respect but by and large the discipline seems to have succumbed to perverse incentives

How do you see if you are infected by a virus? Some beliefs you cannot see despite how hard you look, or is that wrong 😨. Carrier until you see it? 😱

Do you support the interests of the host, or do you feel that the host cannot be trusted and you must work to keep it in check? Or do you feel that in order to serve the hosts interests best, you must do things that you somehow know to be wrong?

This is why I intentionally infect myself with some of the severest, most contagious and convulsive strains known to man. To build up my immunity.

How can we test if the immune system is from rational mind and not from the virus ? Like capitalism seems rational.

Add time, only the repeatable parts of the meme tend to survive, and the connections that form coherence fall apart.
